3-Car accident caused by a cow on Highway 68

An approximately 600-pound cow lies dead in the middle of Hwy-68 after being struck by a vehicle where it caused a 3-car accident. 

NARRATIVE:
Wednesday October 17th at about 10:00 PM, Golden Valley Fire was dispatched to the intersection of Hwy-68 and Estrella Road for a 3-vehicle accident involving an approximately 600-pound steer. The animal was in the right-of-way in the eastbound lanes of Hwy-68. The cluster of three vehicles could not avoid the animal and was struck by the first vehicle.  A total of four individuals were injured in the accident, however all patients refused medical transport to the hospital. The steer, which caused extensive damage to the vehicles died at the scene. Golden Valley Fire and DPS officers slowed traffic for over an hour while waiting for the animal to be moved off the highway.
