Highway 93 Semi Fire snarls traffic

Golden Valley Fire District responded for Mutual-Aid with Lake Mohave Ranchos and Northern Arizona Consolidated Fire District for a semi truck fire on Hwy-93 at Mile-Post 48. Arriving units reported a fully-involved semi trailer fire that was carrying ground rubber tire material.  The heavy black smoke could be seen for over ten miles as fire crews arrived.  Traffic was stopped for over 45-minutes until DPS and ADOT crews re-routed motorists around the wreckage.  The driver disengaged the semi truck from the burning trailer and moved to safe distance.   Fire officials warn motorist to keep in your vehicle at a safe distance to allow fire crews sufficient space to work without endangering the public during extinguishment operations.   The semi trailer and the load are considered a total loss.  The cause of the fire is under investigation and there we no injuries.
